Bishkek: Pakistan and the Kyrgyz Republic on Wednesday signed multiple bilateral accords to enhance bilateral cooperation across trade, security, education, environment, and technology sectors.
Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov witnessed the ceremony where the representatives from both sides exchanged the pre-signed documents.
Both leaders signed a joint statement encompassing the discussions and goals of the visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif who arrived here on a three-day visit to attend the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.
Two sides signed a diplomatic Programme of Cooperation between their foreign ministries for 2026-2027, besides a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad and the National Institute for Strategic Initiatives of the Kyrgyz Republic to strengthen research collaboration.
Both countries finalized agreements on transit trade to facilitate bilateral commercial movement, and promote science and technological cooperation, besides signing a treaty on extradition.

Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan signed an agreement on the establishment of a sister city relationship between Lahore and Osh city of Kyrgyzstan.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday was given red carpet welcome and a guard of honour as he arrived at Kyrgyzstan presidential palace Yntymak Ordo (Palace of Unity) to meet President Sadyr Zhaparov.
As the prime minister arrived at the venue of the formal welcome reception, he was warmly received by President Zhaparov.
The national anthems of Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan were played as the two leaders stood at the salute dais.
The smartly-turned out contingents of the Kyrgyz armed forces presented guard of honour which was reviewed by the prime minister, who was in Bishkek to attend the meeting of the Council of Heads of States of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.
Both leaders introduced their respective delegations to each other before proceeding for their meeting which would feature discussions on bilateral as well as regional matters.
