Islamabad: Pakistan has made remarkable economic achievement in the CASA-1000 project by making significant saving of over US$ 27 million.
A statement issued by ministry of energy (power division) has said that in high level negotiations held in Sweden, Pakistan has made saving of over US$ 27 million by reducing estimated expenses of the contractor.
According to statement Pakistan interest was protected in effective way in the talks held in Sweden. Earlier care and custody cost for Pakistan was estimated at $32.9 million. This cost has now been curtailed to $9 million. It will now be shared between Pakistan and Tajikistan with bringing substantial financial savings for Pakistan.
The CASA-1000 Project has faced delays due to geo political situation in Afghanistan
According to new timeline, the completion of HVDC system is expected till September 2027.
The authorities have agreed on maintaining interim care and custody arrangements and extending it till February 2028.
