Islamabad: Pakistan, along with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and foreign ministers of Jordan, Egypt, Algeria, Comoros, Djibouti, Gambia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Maldives, Nigeria, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Trkiye and Yemen, has unequivocally rejected Israel's recognition of the 'Somaliland' region of the Federal Republic of Somalia.

In a joint statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday, the participating countries condemned Israel's move of December 26, 2025, terming it an unprecedented and dangerous measure with serious repercussions for peace and security in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea, as well as for international peace and security at large. The statement said the recognition reflects Israel's blatant disregard for international law.

The foreign ministers strongly condemned the step, calling it a grave violation of the principles of international law and the United Nations Charter, which mandate respect for state sovereignty and territorial integrity, and described it as reflective of expansionist tendencies.

The joint statement reaffirmed full support for the sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Somalia and categorically rejected any measures that undermine Somalia's unity, territorial integrity, or sovereignty over its entire territory. It warned that recognition of parts of states sets a dangerous precedent, threatens international peace and security, and violates the core principles of international law and the UN Charter.

The ministers also fully rejected any attempt to link such recognition with efforts to forcibly expel the Palestinian people from their land, stressing that such actions are unacceptable in any form as a matter of principle.
