Islamabad: Pakistan has postponed the decision of purchasing NLGs cargoes from spot market at present and adopted the strategy of acquiring inexpensive LNG from Qatar under long term agreement.
According to sources government is focusing on acquiring imported gas at low prices for reduction in the cost of energy and effective use of foreign exchange reserves.
According to Pakistan LNG Limited (PLL) the lowest bids received from global suppliers have been held.
PLL has informed BP Singapore and Total energies that their lowest bids are not being accepted.
Sources said Pakistan hopes 2 more LNG Cargoes can be obtained from Qatar at relatively low rates under long term agreement.
It is being expected that LNG Brent can be acquired from Qatar at 13.37 percent rate of price of crude oil.
Positive indications have been received from Qatar on the availability of additional LNG cargoes while these possible cargoes will be sent to Pakistan via strait of Hormuz .
