Islamabad: Pakistan's Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has issued an official rebuttal to Afghan spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid's claim that Islamabad rejected Kabul's offer to deport security threats during the recent Istanbul peace talks. The ministry clarified that Pakistan had, in fact, proposed a formal handover of alleged Pakistani nationals through designated border posts.

The dispute comes amid fragile bilateral relations following the October 25-30, 2025, Istanbul talks mediated by Turkey and Qatar. Both sides had agreed to extend the ceasefire and reopen key border crossings, including Torkham and Chaman, with a follow-up meeting set for November 6.

The exchange underscores persisting tensions over cross-border terrorism, with Pakistan urging verifiable action against the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other militant groups allegedly operating from Afghan territory. Kabul, however, maintains that such issues stem from Pakistan's internal dynamics, according to recent Afghan statements and reports.
