Pakistan Youth Climate Roundtable highlights youth leadership in climate action & biodiversity conservation

Islamabad: The Global Front for Biodiversity hosted the "Pakistan Youth Climate Roundtable" at the National Incubation Center for Aerospace Technologies (NICAT) in Islamabad, providing a dynamic platform for young leaders to engage in effective dialogue on climate change, biodiversity, and global environmental policy.

Environmental experts Sher Shah Khan, Maria Abbasi, and Amna Jabeen participated as guest speakers.

Sher Shah Khan emphasized youth climate action and effective participation in global negotiations in the context of UNFCCC COP31 Turkey. Maria Abbasi shed light on youth involvement regarding UNCBD COP17 Armenia, the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, and the importance of localized practical steps in Pakistan. Amna Jabeen shared her perspectives on youth inclusion and collective action for a sustainable future.

During the interactive session, participants were divided into groups to draft actionable policy recommendations for COP31 and CBD COP17, contributing valuable proposals for climate action and biodiversity preservation.

Chief Executive Officer of the Global Front for Biodiversity, Qamar Elahi, emphasized the importance of connecting youth voices to global environmental policy debates, stating that young people are not merely future leaders but effective environmental partners of today.

Vice President Ahmed Assal highlighted the need to foster dialogue, cooperation, and policy-driven initiatives among youth, noting that such platforms are vital in transforming youth perspectives into structured recommendations for national and global forums.

The event concluded with participants finalizing joint recommendations aimed at strengthening climate action, biodiversity conservation, and meaningful youth policy inclusion. The Global Front for Biodiversity reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to empowering youth for environmental sustainability.
