Islamabad: Released on the eve of Pakistan hosting key diplomatic talks in Islamabad, a new snap poll conducted by Gallup Pakistan between April 8-9, 2026 finds overwhelming public awareness and support for Pakistan’s role in facilitating a temporary ceasefire in the ongoing international conflict involving the United States/Israel and Iran, alongside strong optimism about its potential outcomes.

The findings are based on a nationally representative sample of approximately 1,000 adults, collected through Random Digit Dialing (RDD) phone interviews, with a margin of error of ±2-3% at the 95% confidence level.

Gallup Pakistan is Pakistan’s oldest survey research institution and affiliate of Gallup International Association since 1981.

More than 8 in 10 Pakistanis (82%) report awareness of Pakistan’s efforts to arrange a temporary ceasefire. Nearly half (46%) say they have heard ‘a great deal,’ while only 14% report no awareness at all.

This reflects rapid public uptake of developments in Pakistan’s international diplomatic engagement.

Public support is near unanimous, with 93% approving of Pakistan playing a mediating role in the conflict, including 72% who strongly approve. Only a very small minority express disapproval.

This represents a rare and strong national consensus on Pakistan’s foreign policy role.

When asked about Pakistan’s broader role in international conflicts:

88% say Pakistan should actively mediate

Only 5% prefer neutrality

3% support taking sides

The findings suggest strong public backing for an active and constructive international posture.

A large majority of Pakistanis are optimistic about the outcome:

80% believe the ceasefire is likely to lead to lasting peace

Including 44% who say ‘very likely’
