Peshawar: Advisor to the KP Chief Minister on Finance and Inter-Provincial Coordination Muzzamil Aslam, revealed that according to the Bureau of Statistics, a staggering 63,000 individuals left Pakistan in January 2025 alone in search of employment opportunities. At this rate, approximately 750,000 people are expected to migrate annually. Mr. Aslam criticized the Prime Minister and ministers for celebrating unemployment and business closures instead of acknowledging their failures. He pointed out that during the PDM and Shehbaz Sharif government's tenure, a massive 2 million people have migrated from Pakistan. Advisor on finance termed this the largest migration in Pakistan's history, estimating that if these 2 million individuals send back just Rs. 75,000 monthly, the country receives approximately $6.5 billion annually. However, Aslam argued that this increase in remittances is not a sign of progress but rather a decline, emphasizing that 2 million educated and skilled individuals have left the country. Mr. Aslam also highlighted that Pakistan's average annual growth rate over the past three years has been less than 1.5 percent, while the population growth rate stands at 2.5 percent.
