Islamabad: Participants of the 8th Maritime Security Workshop (MARSEW-8) visited Naval Headquarters in Islamabad, where Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf interacted with the delegation.

Admiral Ashraf highlighted emerging maritime challenges, evolving opportunities in the maritime domain, and the immense potential of Pakistan's blue economy. He also spoke on the Pakistan Navy's impregnable deterrence during Marka-e-Haq and its contributions to regional peace and stability through active participation in the Combined Maritime Forces and Regional Maritime Security Patrols.

Earlier, participants were briefed on contemporary maritime threats, Pakistan Navy's initiatives for maritime domain awareness, and coastal community development. The delegation, comprising parliamentarians, politicians, bureaucrats, senior armed forces officers, media representatives, entrepreneurs, business leaders, and academia, acknowledged MARSEW's role in raising maritime awareness and shaping national maritime policy. They also lauded the Navy's commitment to safeguarding Pakistan's maritime interests.

The eleven-day workshop aims to enhance understanding of maritime security and the geopolitical significance of the Indian Ocean, providing a platform to deliberate on key national maritime challenges and opportunities.
