Islamabad: Report in connection with case on implementation of 10 percent free education quota in private schools has been filed in Islamabad High Court (IHC). Report has been filed by Private Education Institution Regulatory Authority (PEIRA).

According to PEIRA report 1571 private educational institutions are functioning in 5 zones of Islamabad, 389000 children are studying in private schools. 500 private educational institutions have filed data regarding their infrastructure and strength of students have so far.

As per report the target for providing admission to 25000 children to schools is fixed under No Child Left Behind Campaign.

Under the rules orphans and children of martyrs will be given priority in 10 percent scholarship scheme. Implementation of Right to free and compulsory Education Act 2012 has been started in private schools.

It was told in the report PEIRA has constituted a committee for verification of free education quota in private schools.

Several private schools have filed reports of the students getting free education under 10 percent quota.

The scrutiny process of the data provided by private schools is underway .

According to PERA report there is order of PEIRA to all private registered educational institutions to implement 10 percent free education quota.

Data of the students getting education on scholarship for educational session 2025-26 has been sought forthwith.

Action will be taken under PEIRA Act against the schools which fail to file data.

The private schools have been directed to provide details on online portal in addition to manual.

The renewal of registration certificate is linked to 10 percent need based scholarship policy.
