Islamabad: Supreme Court (SC) has remarked people are dying due to spurious drugs adding license to play with lives cannot be given.
SC while extending bail before arrest till next hearing in respect of the accused nominated in the case of manufacturing fake medicines and sending them abroad has sought complete record of the case till next hearing.
The court directed counsel for Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan ( DRAP) to present solid evidence against the accused persons.
SC bench comprising Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail, justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan and justice Aqeel Ahmad Abbasi took up the case for hearing.
Counsel for DRAP said the accused were manufacturing spurious medicines and sending them abroad. UN too had issued report with reference to these medicines.
Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan remarked people lose lives due to spurious medicines. No one can be given license to manufacture fake medicines and put lives of people at risk.
The counsel for the accused said his clients have no concern with company.
Justice Aqeel Ahmad Abbasi remarked pharmaceutical company cannot run in streets. Preparing the medicines is not preparing a charpoy (cot) that it should be started without permission.
Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail said to counsel for DRAP that solid evidence against the accused persons be presented in the court.
Justice Malik Shahzad remarked if the accused are innocent then tell us why the DRAP enacted case against them.
The court while extending interim bail of three accused including Zia Khalid till next hearing sought complete record of the case from FIA besides directing that the case be fixed for hearing soon.
