Petition by widow of judge Arshid Malik: SC issues notice to registrar LHC

Islamabad: Supreme Court (SC) while issuing notice to registrar Lahore High Court (LHC) on the petition of widow of former judge Arshid Malik has directed him to appear in person on next hearing.

Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi has remarked it is not job of judge to meeting political persons at their homes.

He gave these remarks during hearing of the case by SC constitutional bench presided over by Justice Amin ud Din Khan Friday.

The counsel for the petitioner took the plea judge Arshid Malik was sacked by LHC.

Arshid Malik was hearing references of political people.

Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi remarked it is not job of judge to meet political persons in their homes.

The counsel for the petitioner said appeal against the dismissal was pending hearing when Arshid Malik passed away.

As per law only affected judge can file review petition or appeal and not the widow. It is requested that on humanitarian grounds that the dismissal of judge be converted into premature retirement.

The court issued notice to registrar LHC besides directing him to appear before it in person.

Hearing of the case was adjourned for indefinite period.
