Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) while hearing the petitions regarding legal position of promotion of officers from grade 21 to 22 has accepted federal government plea to give additional time to file record in connection with promotion of officers.

The court gave last chance to federal government to file record regarding promotion of officers.

Justice Inam Minhas while hearing the case made it clear he will decide the case on next hearing.

Justice Inam Minhas of IHC took up the case for hearing Friday.

The petitions filed by former information secretary, Sohail Ali Khan and other officers came up for hearing before Justice Inam Amin Minhas Friday.

Barrister Omar Ijaz Gillani, Shaib Shaheen, Faisal Naqvi and others appeared in the court on behalf of the petitioners.

The court expressed resentment over adjournment plea by the federal government.

Justice Inam Amin Minhas remarked why the state counsels donot appear in important cases.

Faisal Naqvi advocate said government could present no solid reason on promoting junior officers in place of senior officers.

Barrister Omar Ijaz Gillani said only Prime Minister (PM) can preside over the board for higher appointments in civil service. PM is aware of performance of officers of all ministries. Therefore the responsibility for heading the promotion board was assigned to PM in law. Other ministers are aware of performance of their respective ministries only.

The court adjourned the hearing of the case till June 18.
