PHC extends its stay order for not appointing opposition leaders in NA, Senate

Peshawar: Peshawar High Court (PHC) has extended its stay order for not appointing new opposition leaders in National Assembly (NA) and Senate. The petitions against de-notification of PTI leaders Omar Ayub and Shibli Faraz came up for hearing in PHC Wednesday.Justice Waqar Ahmad and Justice Dr Kamran Hayat Miankhel took up the petitions for hearing.Bashir Khan Wazir advocate counsel for the petitioner took the plea speaker NA and chairman Senate de-notified his clients despite court's orders while Omar Ayub and Shibli Faraz are opposition leaders in National Assembly (NA) and Senate respectively.The counsel further said that Election Commission (EC) had disqualified the petitioners while court had restrained EC from initiating further proceedings. Despite it speaker NA and chairman Senate de-notified the petitioners.During the hearing of the case special secretary law Election Commission took the plea his comments are ready but these have not been so far filed due to engagement in other cases.Late r the court extended stay order for not appointing new opposition leaders in NA and Senate and sought reply from EC, Speaker NA and Chairman Senate.The court adjourned hearing of the case.
