Peshawar: Peshawar High Court (PHC) has imposed complete ban on using state resources on any political gathering, public meetings, rallies and long march.
While announcing decision on writ petition No P-2653 /2024 PHC made it clear use of government vehicles, public property, machinery or staff is clear misuse of government property and state powers.
The court said in its decision that this act runs contrary to public trust and norms of impartiality of governance because state resources are provided for performing state obligations and providing services to the citizens.
According to the decision the unauthorized use of state resources can be tantamount to corruption and misuse of powers. Every government functionary is bound to uphold law and public trust under article 25 and 54 of the constitution.
The court made it binding on KP government and respective authorities that no official vehicle, rescue machinery fire brigade or staff be used for any political rally, long march or protest.

ighted in the decision the provincial government while relying on state resources in the past supported politics of only one party which affected state impartiality.
The court made it clear there is no restriction on politics but politics can not be done on public services machinery and resources which are meant for school, hospitals and emergency services.
