Peshawar: Peshawar High Court (PHC) has sought reply from federal government , interior ministry and NADRA on over 100 petitions filed by Afghan refugees against not granting them citizenship and non provision of facilities to them.As per media reports over 100 petitions filed by Afghan refugees came up for hearing in PHC.PHC bench comprising Justice Waqar Ahmad and Justice Ejaz Khan heard the petitions.Deputy Attorney General (DAG) , DG NADRA and additional secretary home department appeared in the court.Counsel for the petitioner said no procedure is in place for Afghanis holding Pakistani citizenship. The solution to the problems of Afghan refugees does not lie with SAFRAN.Director NADRA said Zonal Verification Board has been set up to address the problems facing Afghan refugees. When we check record of one man then 25 persons surface up.Director NADRA said we also set up board at zonal level. We are in contact with all stake holders. We grant citizenship to those who are having 1979 passport or other credible documents. We are conducting one window operation. We confirm the case here and then send it to SAFRAN.Justice Ejaz Khan remarked " provide facilities to people. Thousands of people are coming to courts. Use technology and create facilities. SAFRAN people should also be inducted there where NADRA people are sitting. People are facing difficulties. Create comforts for them. Don't make the system more complicated. NADRA is doing good job. People have put all at stake.Justice Waqar Ahmad remarked home department had no procedure to manage all of them. Now the matter came to NADRA and became streamlined. Don't give relief to them who are not right but right be given to those who are entitled to it.The court issued notice to federal, provincial government, home department, NADRA and other respondents.
