Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has announced cash award of Rs 15 lac each for national hockey team in recognition of their brilliant performance for qualifying for the hockey world cup.

He said this step is not only the acknowledgment of the hard work of Pakistan hockey team and their passion for game but it is also a major step for promotion of hockey in the country.

Participation of national hockey team in world cup qualifier has injected enthusiasm in hockey lovers. This prize is the living evidence of their steadfastness.

It is pertinent to mention here Pakistan has sought access to Scheduled world cup this year by defeating Japan in semi final.
