PM constitutes committee under FM for improvement in economic governance

Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has constituted committee under the Finance Minister for improvement in economic governance.

The government has taken this vital step following the pointation of the flaws in the governance by IMF.

According to media reports FM has been appointed chairman of 15-member committee. This committee will be part of PM Economic Governance Reforms Agenda. It will present its performance report to the PM on quarterly basis.

The committee members are finance secretary, law secretary, secretary planning, secretary SIFC, secretary IT and secretary establishment division.

Secretary law and justice commission and secretary investment board too will be part of this committee.

Chairman SECP, governor State Bank and chairman CCP have also been included in the committee. MD PPRA, DG Tax policy office and additional auditor general too are included in the members of the committee.

Additional Finance secretary will act as secretary of committee. Finance ministry will provide secretarial support to committee.

It is pertinent to mention here Governance and Corruption Diagnostic Assessment report of IMF was published in November 2025.

It has been said therein that Pakistan can achieve greater economic benefits through betterment in governance.

According to report GDP of Pakistan is likely to surge by 5 percent to 6.5 percent through effective implementation of governance reforms.
