Islamabad: Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has directed for administrative and institutional measures to stop tax evasion.
PM Shehbaz Sharif was chairing a meeting in Islamabad on Saturday to review the reforms in taxation system. The Prime Minister instructed the officials concerned to eliminate the shortcomings in tax collection in tobacco, tiles and other major sectors in a phased manner.
He emphasized accelerating the implementation of tax reforms to put the country on the path of economic stability and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
The Prime Minister said latest economic indicators showing positive trajectory and confidence of business community are a testimony to the effectiveness of government’s efforts.
The Prime Minister was briefed during the meeting that tariff reforms implemented this year had no negative impact on revenue collection rather a 25 percent increase has been registered in the collection of duties and taxes at the import level.

ngoing economic reforms are aimed at boosting manufacturing and exports to create a more conducive investment environment in the country and have remained effective with positive results.
