PM Shehbaz holds telephone conversation with Malaysian PM Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim

Islamabad: Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with Dato' Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia. During their warm and cordial conversation, the Prime Minister inquired about Dr. Anwar Ibrahim's health and wished him a swift and early recovery.

The two Prime Ministers expressed their satisfaction at the current positive trajectory of bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Malaysia. They resolved to continue this momentum, particularly with a view to enhance their trade and investment ties.

Regional developments, particularly the situation in the Gulf, also came up for discussion. Dr. Anwar Ibrahim praised Pakistan's regional peace efforts and expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, for their leadership roles in steering these laudable efforts.

The Prime Minister thanked his Malaysian counterpart for Malaysia's consistent support for Pakistan's regional peace efforts and reaffirmed Pakistan's resolve to continuous working closely with brotherly and friendly countries, including Malaysia, to advance the prospect for peace in the Middle East.

Both leaders agreed to meet at a mutually convenient occasion in the near future. The Prime Minister also reiterated his invitation to Prime Minister Dr. Anwar Ibrahim to undertake an official visit to Pakistan, at his earliest convenience.

Meanwhile PM Shehbaz Sharif in a statement issued on X, wrote 'I was pleased to speak with my dear brother, Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, earlier this evening. I inquired regarding his health and wished him a swift and complete recovery. We expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory of Pakistan-Malaysia relations and resolved to further deepen our trade and investment ties. We also exchanged views on regional developments, particularly the situation in the Gulf, and reaffirmed our shared commitment to advancing lasting peace in the region'.
