Islamabad: Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said the federal government is committed to working closely with the newly elected Gilgit-Baltistan government for the welfare of the people of the region.

PM Shehbaz Sharif was talking to Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Amjad Hussain who called on him in Islamabad on Tuesday. He said the federal government is undertaking development initiatives in renewable energy, tourism, infrastructure, health, education, and other sectors for the wellbeing of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.

PM Shehbaz Sharif said the federal government's priority projects include a 100-megawatt solar power project and the establishment of Daanish Schools in Gilgit-Baltistan.

He said the government is also planning to establish Pakistan Asaan Khidmat Centre in Gilgit to facilitate the people of the region.

The Prime Minister congratulated Amjad Hussain on assuming the office of Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan. Federal Ministers Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Ahsan Iqbal Chauhdry Ahad Khan Cheema and Attorney General for Pakistan Mansoor Usman Awan were also present during the meeting.
