Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif while taking immediate notice of issuance of new Regulations by National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) with reference to solar has directed the Power Division to immediately file a review appeal with NEPRA for protection of contracts of existing solar consumers.

He was chairing a high-level special meeting in Islamabad Wednesday to review the newly introduced regulations by NEPRA.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the burden of approximately 466,000 solar consumers should not fall on more than 37.6 million consumers who rely solely on electricity from the national grid.

Power Division should evolve a comprehensive strategy in this regard, he directed. .

The meeting was attended by deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, federal ministers Ahad Khan Cheema, Atta Ullah Tarar, Ali Pervaiz Malik, Sardar Owais Khan Leghari, state minister Bilal Azhar Kiani, adivisor on privatization Muhammad Ali and respective senior officials .
