Islamabad: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMandDC) has successfully concluded its three-day National CME/CPD Capacity-Building Workshop, titled 'Designing High-Impact CME/CPD: From Concept to Completion.'
The workshop was held from August 27 to 29 in Islamabad and brought together institutional leaders, medical educationists, faculty members and representatives of medical and dental institutions from across Pakistan.
The closing ceremony was attended by Parliamentary Secretary for National Heritage and Culture Ms. Farah Naz Akbar as chief guest, along with PMandDC President Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj, Registrar Brig. Dr. Rehan Naqvi, faculty members, participants and senior officials.
Addressing the ceremony, PMandDC President Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj emphasized the importance of Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in keeping healthcare professionals updated with advances in medical science and clinical practice.
He said PMandDC was committed to developing a CME/CPD system aligned with international best practices to ensure Pakistani doctors and dentists remain up to date in knowledge, skills and professional practice.
Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj also appreciated Dr. Natasha from Aga Khan University for serving as facilitator throughout the three-day workshop and for her contribution to CME/CPD design, implementation and evaluation.
Chief Guest Ms. Farah Naz Akbar appreciated PMandDC's initiative and commended the leadership of Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj in strengthening the regulatory framework for medical and dental education and professional development.
Registrar PMandDC Brig. Dr. Rehan Naqvi highlighted the milestones achieved by the Council during the tenure of Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj and said the CME/CPD initiative was another important step towards strengthening professional standards and promoting continuous learning among registered medical and dental practitioners.
The workshop covered the complete CME/CPD cycle, including identification of professional practice gaps, educational needs assessment, measurable learning objectives, educational design, integrity and independence, outcome evaluation, governance, documentation, monitoring and quality assurance.
Participants gave positive feedback and expressed interest in continued engagement with PMandDC and further capacity-building activities.
PMandDC reaffirmed that the initiative is part of its broader effort to establish a transparent, credible and internationally aligned CME/CPD framework aimed at lifelong learning, professional competence, improved patient care and greater global recognition of Pakistani medical and dental professionals.
