Sanaa: Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs on behalf of the Yemeni government has issued statement regarding Yemen situation and Houthi threat to regional and maritime security. The statement highlights the continued destabilizing role of the Houthi militias, whose activities constitute a serious threat not only to Yemen and the Yemeni people, but also to regional security and international maritime navigation and trade, particularly in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.The Yemeni government stresses that the continued military, financial, political, and logistical support provided to the Houthis prolongs the conflict, undermines prospects for peace, and contributes to the worsening humanitarian situation. It further emphasizes the need for respect for international law, implementation of relevant UN Security Council resolutions, and an effective international response to violations rather than allowing continued impunity.At the same time, the Yemeni government reiterates that the political solutio n remains the safest and most viable path to ending the war, provided that it is based on ending the coup, restoring state institutions, and respecting Yemen's national, regional, and international commitments.The statement said that the Yemeni issue is no longer merely an internal matter. It has become an issue concerning the protection of the international order based on respect for the sovereignty of states, the implementation of United Nations Security Council resolutions, and the safeguarding of international maritime routes.Accordingly, we wish to emphasize the following:1. The Yemeni Issue Is a Matter of Respect for International LawThe continuation of the coup, external support for the militias, and repeated violations of Security Council resolutions constitute a direct challenge to international law, the principle of state sovereignty, and the international order based on the implementation of binding decisions.Defending the Yemeni state is a defense of the principles upon which the Unite d Nations Charter is founded, and is not a defense of any particular government.2. Continued External Support Undermines Prospects for PeaceAny political, financial, military, or logistical support provided to the Houthi militias prolongs the war, encourages them to reject political solutions, and further complicates the humanitarian crisis.Sustainable peace in Yemen cannot be achieved while the flow of support sustaining the war economy continues, or while external interventions encourage the militias to pursue military options.3. The Yemeni Government Is a Reliable Partner in the Peace ProcessThe Yemeni government has adhered to all agreed-upon frameworks and participated in various political initiatives, while engaging positively with the efforts of the United Nations, brotherly and friendly states, and international partners.The Yemeni government continues to believe that a political solution is the best option for ending the war, provided that it is based on ending the coup, restoring sta te institutions, and respecting national, regional, and international frameworks.4. Protecting the Yemeni State Is a Shared Regional and International InterestThe stability of Yemen is not merely a national interest; it constitutes a fundamental pillar of regional security, the safety of international trade, energy security, and the stability of the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.Recent developments and Houthi militia attacks on vessels in the Red Sea-including the attack on the vessel Tahama in the Bab al-Mandab, which resulted in the deaths of sailors from Pakistan and Indonesia-as well as repeated attacks against neighboring countries and vital and civilian infrastructure inside Yemen, have demonstrated that any leniency toward the militias does not affect Yemen alone. Its consequences extend to regional and international security.5. International Resolutions Must Be Implemented, Not Merely IssuedThe fundamental problem is no longer the absence of legal frameworks, but rather the weakness of their implementation.The Security Council resolutions concerning Yemen have provided a clear legal framework. However, the continued violation of these resolutions without effective deterrent measures has encouraged the militias to continue their escalatory policies.Accordingly, priority must be given to the strict implementation of Security Council resolutions and the sanctions regime, and to preventing the delivery of any military, financial, or logistical support to the militias.6. Tolerance of Violations Encourages Further EscalationAny international response that is disproportionate to the scale of the violations committed by the militias will be interpreted as an absence of international resolve, which will encourage further military escalation, prolong the war, and increase the suffering of civilians.
