Karachi: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Ameer Monem Zafar Khan has said that the politics of vested interests, mismanagement and corruption had brought Karachi to the brink of destruction.Monem Zafar Khan expressed these views while addressing a convention in Karachi. He said that the JI was synonymous with public service and collective struggle. We are striving not merely for individual efforts but for the establishment of a just and righteous social system, he said.The entire city has become a hub of problems, he said, adding that it was the government's responsibility to resolve citizens' issues such as water, electricity, roads, and transport.Unfortunately, despite having authority and resources, those in power have pushed Karachi to the verge of collapse. Jamaat-e-Islami is actively struggling to resolve these problems and is present in the field to secure the city's rightful due through public strength, he said.He further said that Karachi was the economic center of all Pakistan-it contributes 67 % of the federal revenue and 95% of Sindh government's income. However, due to mismanagement, corruption, and politics of self-interest, the city has continuously been deprived of its rights, he added.Quoting former federal secretary Younus Dagha as saying Karachi has been deprived of Rs. 3,360 billion in funds over the past 15 years, he said if Karachi were paid its due share of Rs. 880 billion this year alone, not only could the K-IV water project be completed, but the Green, Red, and Yellow Line transport projects could also reach completion.Our demand is that Karachi be given its rightful share and that resources be spent on public welfare, he highlighted.He said the JI will hold an All Pakistan Ijtima-e-Aam (Public Gathering) on November 21, 22, and 23 at Minar-e-Pakistan, Lahore, under the slogan 'Change the System - Resolve to End the System of Oppression.'"This gathering will prove to be a new ray of hope amid the deteriorating situation of the country."Muneem Zafar Khan appealed to all memb ers and office bearers to begin preparations immediately, register their names, and organize their groups for participation. This event will be a great opportunity for training, purification, renewal of determination, and demonstration of collective strength.Monem Zafar Khan said the JI' struggle was not limited to municipal or local services; our true objective is the same for which Pakistan was created - to establish the supremacy of Allah's religion and to free humanity from the servitude of men and bring them to the servitude of Allah. JI leaders Naeem Akhtar and Mazhar Siddiqui also addressed the convention.
