Power tariff likely to be raised by paisas 26 per unit

Islamabad: Power tariff is likely to be raised by 26 paisas per under the head of monthly fuel adjustment. Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has filed application seeking increase in cost of electricity by paisas 26 per unit under the head of monthly fuel adjustment.

National Electric Power Regulatory Authority(NEPRA) will take it for hearing today. According to report 8 billion 93 crore and 90 lac units electricity was generated in the month of March. While 8 billion 64 crore 40 lac units electricity was provided to DISCOs. Reference cost was fixed Rs 7.99 per unit for this month.

It has been told in the report water share remained 232.55 percent, nuclear fuel 21.95 percent and local coal 16.76 percent in the generation of the electricity. Imported coal share remained 13.80 percent, local gas 11.34 percent, LNG 5.64 percent, air 3.46 percent, solar 1.18 percent and furnace oil 1.02 percent. If approval is given to this increase then it will apply to all consumers including K-Electric.
