PPP mayor did nothing but lip service to Karachiites: Monem Zafar Khan

Karachi: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Ameer Monem Zafar Khan said that the Pakistan People Party (PPP)'s occupying mayor did nothing, except lip services for Karachi and Karachiites. The JI leader expressed these views while addressing a party's member convention held in Malir area. Speaking on the occasion, he said that Karachi was currently the most neglected city of Pakistan. Despite years of representation by the PPP, Karachiites are still deprived of basic facilities, he said and highlighted that there was no clean drinking water, usable roads, or any organized transport system.Monem Zafar Khan announced that the JI would establish complaint cells in district Malir and other areas, where citizens will receive guidance and assistance in resolving their daily issues - particularly those related to NADRA, K-Electric, Water Board, and other public institutions. He added that Jamaat-e-Islami would also launch a strong public campaign against the 'Thana Culture' so that police stations become centers of pu blic service instead of fear and corruption.'We are the true representatives of the underprivileged communities. We have fought for their rights before and will continue to do so. The doors of Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi are always open for every oppressed and deprived citizen,' he said.Monem Zafar further said that people living along the coastline are deprived of even a drop of water, whereas the tanker mafia is exploiting citizens' hardships, and the government remains a silent spectator. He added that sewage system lies in ruins, with pools of dirty water visible everywhere, and the roads have turned into potholes. The education and health sectors are also in a deplorable state, he said.He said the PPP only approaches the public at election time, but abandons them afterward. Jamaat-e-Islami, he stressed, is the only political party that truly believes in public service without discrimination and is genuinely struggling for citizens' rights. The convention was also addressed by District Ameer Syed Mufakh ar Ali, General Secretary Kamran Nawaz, Area Nazim Qari Zafar, and others.Meanwhile, Monem Zafar along with JI leader Muhammad Ashraf, MPA Muhammad Farooq and Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) KU President Kamran Ghani visited the family of late Aneeqa Saeed - the University of Karachi student killed in a road accident by a university bus inside the premises of the university. The JI leader offered his condolences to the parents and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
