Karachi: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Ameer Monem Zafar Khan on Wednesday held the 40-year long partnership between the Pakistan People's Party and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement responsible for the post rain scenario in the mega city.Monem Zafar Khan was addressing a press conference at Hassan Square outside the Jinnah Town office. He was accompanied by Saifuddin Advocate, the leader of the opposition in the city council, JI leader Naeem Akhtar, Gulshan Town Chairman Dr. Fawad, Jinnah Town Chairman Rizwan Abdul Sami and others.Speaking on the occasion, he said that the partnership between the PPP and MQM doomed all the local body institutions. As a result, he said, all the local body institutions failed miserably in handling just a few inches of rain in the mega city.Monem Zafar Khan said that unfortunately the centre was also trying to shrug off it's responsibilities. He demanded Islamabad to give a Rs500 billion package for Karachi and asked the Sindh government to release Rs2 billion each to all town s in Karachi, in order to handle the post rain situation.He said that reportedly 11 Karachiites lost their lives in rain related incidents. The citizens, including women and students faced immense problems. The JI leader also lambasted the K-Electric for irking lives of Karachiites.He said that Karachi pays thousands of billions in taxes but was kept deprived of it's due share.
