President Administers Oath to New Federal Tax Ombudsman

Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday administered the oath of office to Mr. Zafar ul Haq Hijazi as the Federal Tax Ombudsman at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

Mr. Hijazi, a Chartered Accountant and Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan, brings over four decades of experience in taxation, corporate and capital market regulation, audit oversight, financial management, and advisory services. He has previously served as Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan and Chairman of the Audit and Oversight Board of Pakistan.

Following the oath-taking ceremony, Mr. Hijazi met with President Zardari, who emphasized the importance of raising public awareness about the Federal Tax Ombudsman's role in facilitating taxpayers. The President urged the Ombudsman to leverage modern technology to ensure timely disposal of complaints and stressed that the office must provide speedy, cost-free relief to citizens while expanding its outreach nationwide.
