Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have renewed pledge to uphold and safeguard the sovereignty and territorial integrity of country.In his message on the occasion of Youm-e-Takbeer, President Asif Zardari said that Pakistan's nuclear capability continues to serve as a credible minimum deterrent that guarantees peace and ensures no one can undermine our sovereignty and national security.He said Pakistan does not seek conflict and is committed to the principles of peaceful coexistence and respect for international law.Asif Ali Zardari said that Pakistan demonstrated its strategic patience and commitment to peace in the face of recent unprovoked Indian aggression.In his message on the occasion, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hailed Pakistan's nuclear journey and called for renewed unity and determination to transform the country into an economic power.The Prime Minister linked this year's commemoration with what he described as Pakistan's recent succes s in defending itself from an unjustified war imposed by India.He urged the nation to carry the spirit of Youm-e-Takbeer beyond defense and into economic transformation.On this occasion Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar in his message said that Youm-e-Takbeer is not only a manifestation of the determination and unwavering commitment of Pakistan's military, scientists and political leadership, but it is also a testament of the fact that the nation always stood united and lined up to give a befitting reply to the enemy whenever the motherland faced any challenge.The Minister said May 28 1998, is an important milestone in the history of Pakistan. He said on this day, the nation, under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif, conducted six successful nuclear tests in response to India's five nuclear explosions, making the country's defence impregnable.Attaullah Tarar said during the recent Indo-Pak war, Pakistan, under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, thwarted the enemy's nefarious designs. He said today, once again, Pakistan proved that we can go to any extent to defend the motherland.He said this victory is part of a continuity that started in 1998 and is continuing in a befitting manner even today.Attaullah Tarar said Pakistan's defence is in strong hands and the nation has full confidence in its armed forces, scientists and the political leadership.He said 'Youm-e-Takbeer' is a day to renew the pledge that we will respond befittingly to any aggression and will not compromise on the country's security and sovereignty.
