Karachi: Sindh High Court (SHC) has wrapped up the petitions against transfer of 3 grade-19 officers of Workers Welfare Board (WWB) and giving interim charge to junior officers on the assurance of provincial minister for labor and chairman WWB Saeed Ghani. Saeed Ghani told the court former notification will be withdrawn in the light of court's observations.A two members bench of SHC comprising Justice Muhammad Saleem Jessar and Justice Nisar Ahmad Bhanbhro took up the petitions for hearing Wednesday.Provincial minister Saeed Ghani appeared in the court in person during the hearing of the case.Ehtesham advocate counsel for the petitioners took the plea Saeed Ghani has given statements against the courts therefore, contempt of court proceedings be initiated against him.Provincial minister Saeed Ghani told the court the officers who have been transferred were involved in corruption. Investigations into the matter of alleged corruption of Rs 25 billion are underway.Saeed Ghani gave statement in the cou rt he is personally convinced that corruption has been committed and he cannot tolerate it.He said had it been in his powers he would have sacked the respective officers from service directly and sent them to jail. Being bound by law he adopted the way of only suspending and transferring them.The court remarked proceedings should be initiated against the officers involved in corruption. However it is essential to uphold the law.Justice Muhammad Saleem Jessar said court too supports it that the corrupt officers should be punished.Justice Nisar Ahmad Bhanbhro remarked the officers who were given interim charge were not capable for the respective posts.Saeed Ghani took the plea WWB lacks officers, therefore, transfers were made. The responsibility was to be given to some one else in place of officers.The court directed either new officers be appointed or services be hired from other departments. However charge be given to senior and competent officers.The court further remarked it has no sympathy w ith any officer but it is necessary to perform work as per law.
