Islamabad : Pakistan has strongly condemned the profiling of Ulema, mosques and Masjid management committees by India in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

A statement issued by Foreign Office (FO) Spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi on Saturday said Indian moves are open interference in religious affairs which are tantamount to blatant violation of basic right of freedom of religion and belief. It aims at terrifying Muslim population in Occupied Kashmir and pushing them to isolation.

Collecting personal antecedents, pictures and sectarian affiliation from religious functionaries forcibly falls in the ambit of organized harassment.

This aims at instilling fear among worshippers and obstructing them from following their religion freely.

FO spokesperson said these steps are part of Hindutva ideology and Islamophobia based policies of occupying Indian government.

Targeting Muslim Ulema and mosques directly are clear evidence of discriminatory and communal role of these policies.

The people of Jammu and Kashmir has an inalienable right to practise their religion without fear, coercion or discrimination.

Pakistan will continue to express solidarity with them and persistently raise voice against all forms of religious persecution and intolerance against Kashmiris.
