Karachi: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Ameer Monem Zafar Khan has said providing civic facilities to people in its nine towns is the JI's top priority.Monem Zafar expressed these views while inaugurating a model neighborhood and a family park in Gulshan-e-Shameem, Azizabad area of Karachi.District Gulberg Central Ameer Kamran Siraj, Gulberg Town Chairman Nusratullah, and other local representatives also addressed the inauguration ceremony.A large number of streetlights have already been installed in the model neighborhood.Speaking on the occasion, the JI leader said although water supply and sewerage issues do not fall under town jurisdiction, our chairmen are addressing these problems using town budgets because there is no other way thanks to the Pakistan People Party policies."We have spent Rs 1.5 billion on resolving sewerage issues, rehabilitated 171 parks and 42 government schools, and provided clean water to over 500,000 citizens,' he said.Monem Zafar further noted that in 2003, Jamaat-e-Isl ami's City Nazim Naimatullah Khan had launched the K-III water project, but in the past 22 years, not even a single drop has been added to Karachi's water supply. The K-IV project also remains incomplete, he added.He said that Karachi drives the entire country's economy, yet the ruling elite has deprived the city of basic amenities. 'The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has been ruling Sindh for the past 17 consecutive years. It has looted Rs. 3,360 billion from Karachi and captured the city's institutions and resources,' he said.He added that Karachi's citizens contribute the highest taxes in Pakistan but in return face load-shedding, expensive electricity, water shortage, lack of public transport, broken roads, and many other problems.'Kareemabad underpass remains dug up, and the Red Line project has been under construction for the past four years with no completion in sight for the next four either,' he said.'Our town chairmen are completing development projects even with limited budgets and performing duties that actually fall under the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and the occupying mayor,' he said.He emphasized that Jamaat-e-Islami will continue both legal and public struggles to secure citizens' rights and reclaim the city's resources from those who have usurped them. 'The people of Karachi deserve clean water, quality education, reliable transport, and better civic facilities,' he said.District Ameer Kamran Siraj said that transparency, honesty, and service guarantee progress. 'Jamaat-e-Islami believes in the politics of service, integrity, and development. The public welfare projects in Gulberg are a practical demonstration of our commitment to citizens. Our goal is to make every town clean, green, and prosperous,' he said.Gulberg Town Chairman Nusratullah stated that providing a clean and peaceful environment for citizens is a top priority.
