Public money to be invested only in projects with assured results: PM Shehbaz

Islamabad: Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said the ministries showing better performance will be given priority in the allocation of funds for development projects.

PM Shehbaz Sharif was chairing a meeting in Islamabad on Monday to review the current year's development budget and the proposed Public Sector Development Programme for the next fiscal year.

The Prime Minister emphasized that public money will be invested only in projects with assured results.

He said water reservoirs and hydropower projects are among the top priorities for development spending. He added that projects aimed at increasing water storage capacity would be given preference.

The Prime Minister directed that public-private partnerships in development projects should be encouraged to the maximum extent.

PM Shehbaz Sharif also appreciated Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb for the successful issuance of Panda Bonds and their positive reception in the market. He also commended the performance of the ministries of Railways, Information Technology, and Power.

The meeting was briefed on the review of the current year's PSDP and the proposed development projects and required funds for the next financial year.

It was also informed about the progress on major national water storage and hydropower projects, including Dasu Dam, Diamer-Bhasha Dam, and Mohmand Dam.
