Lahore: Punjab government while protecting cultural heritage has decided to restore old name of buildings and highways of Lahore.
As per media report a meeting of Heritage Areas Revival was held under Mian Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister (C M) Punjab Maryam Nawaz here Thursday.
Report on revival project of ancient and historical buildings in Lahore was presented. Pictorial view was taken on progress in ongoing project.
It was decided in principle to revive old name of roads and streets in Lahore.
It was also decided to revive the old name of the colleges which have been given the status of universities. The name of university will be removed as affix from government colleges and old name will be written.
It has been decided to construct Convent Garden in the back side of Tollinton market. It was agreed on constructing every thing organic cafe in Tollinton market. Semi covered area and shops will also be built in Tollinton market. Two- storey underground parking will be constructed for bilks and cars.
Briefing was also given on New Museum Block project in the meeting. World class galleries will be built in new museum block.
Old arms, coins . Chinese and Sikh galleries will be built. Interactive screen will be source of interest for the visitors in New Museum block.
Decision was made to revive 8 old and historical passages of Lahore.
CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz directed to make payment to the affectees at market rates.
