Lahore: Home department Punjab has extended imposition of section 144 for further 8 days all over the province.

Home department Punjab spokesperson said ban is in place on protests, demonstrations, public meetings, rallies, dharnas, gatherings and all such activities in Punjab. .

Decision for extending section 144 has been taken to maintain law and order situation and for protection of property and lives of people.

publication and distribution of sectarian, hate material and provocative speeches have been fully banned. .

The ban prohibits assembly, gathering, procession or sit-in of four or more persons in any public place, street, road, or open space as well as a complete ban on carrying, display or brandishing of all kinds of weapons, including licensed weapons in public places.

The ban also extends to use of loudspeakers and publishing, disseminating or displaying any provocative, hateful or sectarian material that may incite public sentiment or disturb inter-faith and sectarian harmony.

Ban order will not be applicable to wedding ceremonies , funeral processions and burial . Government officials and subordinate staff performing official duty and courts will stand exempted from this order. Loudspeakers can be used for Jumma sermons and addan.

Under the order, the ban remains in effect on public gatherings, processions, sit-ins, carrying of weapons, use of loudspeakers, and distribution of inflammatory or provocative material.

The notification regarding extension in enforcement of section 144 has been issued.
