Punjab govt finalizes preparations to enact strict laws against land mafia, property fraud

Lahore: Punjab government has made all preparations for enactment of strict laws against land mafia and those involved in fraud in sale and purchase of plots.

A high-level meeting was held under Punjab Minister for Housing Bilal Yasin at the Board of Revenue.

Senior officials including Senior Member Board of Revenue Nabeel Javed, Secretary Housing Noor-ul-Amin Mengal, Director General LDA, and representatives from the Punjab Land Records Authority, PLRA, attended the meeting. Officials from the Local Government, Finance, Law, RUDA, Cooperatives, Environment, and WASA departments were also present.

It was told to the participants of meeting that public complaints against illegal housing schemes and fake file system will be redressed. Punjab Land Authority will prepare respective soft ware related to approval of housing schemes in all over the province.

Target was fixed for providing digital revenue record, NOCs and dealing other matters within 90 days. Recommendations were presented for stopping advertisement of illegal housing schemes and registering property dealers.

Speaking on the occasion, Bilal Yasin said that housing developers are selling plot files far exceeding their approved land holdings.

Action would be taken against schemes that alter plot locations after installments are paid.

The minister warned that those involved in forgery, deception, and fraud must 'correct their course.

Protecting the rights of public is among top priorities of government under the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, he remarked.
