Islamabad: Speaker National Assembly (NA) has accepted the resignation of Sardar Akhtar Mengal Member of National Assembly (MNA) paving the way for by polls in NA-256 Khuzdar.

The resignation has been accepted after 17 months.

Sardar Akhtar Mengal was elected as Member of National Assembly (MNA) from NA-256 Khuzdar on February 8. 2024. Speaker NA accepted his resignation after one year and five months.

Sardar Akhtar Mengal had tendered resignation from NA seat on September 3, 2024 due to non acceptance of the demands related to Balochistan.

The NA secretariat has sent copy of approved resignation to election commission besides informing the election commission to declare the NA-256 Khuzdar seat vacant.

Election commission will announce schedule for by polls in this constituency.

According to NA Secretariat sources the resignation has been accepted from September 3, 2024 and as per rules Sardar Akhtar Mengal will have to return the salary for the period of over 17 months received by him after this date.
