ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) while nullifying Lahore High Court (LHC) decision pertaining to National Assembly (NA) constituencies including NA-79, NA-81 and NA-154 has declared PML-N candidates successful.SC while accepting appeal pleas of PML-N leaders restored Election Commission (EC) decision.SC announced decision with 2-1 majority on Monday.It has been said in majority decision EC is a constitutional institution which deserves respect. Judges of LHC gave unnecessary remarks about head of EC and its members. LHC decision cannot be maintained.A 3-memnber bench of SC presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa had reserved decision on appeal pleas.Justice Aqeel Abbasi differed with the decision.It is pertinent to mention here that Abdul Rehman Kanju, Azhar Qayyum Nehra and Zulfikar Ahmed from PML-N .had resorted to SC against LHC decision.Objections were raised in NA 154 Lodhran, NA 81 Gujranwala and NA 79 Gujranwala in February election.EC had accepted pleas of PML-N candid ates. EC had issued notification regarding success of 3 candidates of PML-N.SC has accepted appeal pleas of Abdul Rehman Kanju, Azhar Qayyum Nehra and Zulfikar Ahmed from PML-N .in this decision.On April 25 LHC had declared null and void the notices issued by EC to PTI backed 2 independent MNAs on their petitions seeking re-count in their respective constituencies.Later PML-N leaders Abdul Rehman Kanju, Azhar Qayyum Nehra and Zulfikar Ahmed had challenged LHC decision in SC.In recount Abdul Rehman Kanjo defeated Rana Faraz from PML-N in A-154, Azhar Qayyum Nahra had defeated Rana Bilal Ejaz, in NA-81 and Zulfiqar Ahmad defeated Ehsan Ullah in NA-79 in recount.
