Islamabad: Supreme Court (SC) has announced the decision in respect of pension case of former employees of PTCL declaring them entitled to pension .

A 3-member bench of SC while announcing detailed decision in respect of more than 200 appeals declared the former employees of PTCL entitled to pension.

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi and justice Amin ud Din Khan gave decision in favor of the pensioners while justice Ayesha Malik wrote dissenting note.

It has been said in the decision financial constraints faced by the company do not absolve it from its responsibility to make pension payments.

SC ordered PTCL should work out schedule for payment of pension within 90 days. Pension be reviewed in line with federal government policy.

According to decision the employees who have opted for Voluntary Separation Scheme ( VSS) will not be entitled to pension.

The court ordered the process of payment should be transparent, just and effective so that the years long demands could be redressed.
