SC grants bail to PTI senator Ejaz Chaudhry

Islamabad: Supreme Court (SC) has approved bail plea of PTI Senator Ejaz Chaudhry.

A 3-member bench of SC presided over by Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan heard the case. Justice Hashim Kakar and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim were part of the bench.

The court ordered Ejaz Chaudhry to file surety bonds worth Rs 100000 in the trial court.

During the hearing of the case special prosecutor said Senator Ejaz Chaudhry incited the people and he remained part of conspiracy.

Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan remarked if case against Ejaz Chaudhry was so strong then it would have been taken to military court. Bail cannot be used as sentence.

Counsel for PTI Senator said Ejaz Chaudhry is arrested since May 11, 2023.

The court approved bail plea of Senator Ejaz Chaudhry against surety bonds in the sum of Rs one lac.

On the other side bail after arrest plea of PTI leader Hafiz Farhat Abbas was approved in May 9 case.

Counsel Latif Khosa said bail before arrest plea of co-accused Imtiaz Sheikh was approved by SC.

Special prosecutor said Hafiz Farhat Abbas is facing the charge of May 9 conspiracy.

Justice Hashim Kakar said Imtiaz Sheikh was also facing charge of conspiracy.

Special prosecutor said trial court had declared Hafiz Farhat Abbas absconder.

Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan remarked respective court will see this matter either he is absconding or otherwise. Investigation has been completed and challan has also been filed. Arrest has to be made now for what.

Special prosecutor said we will get complete trial within 4 months.
