SC moved against proposed constitutional amendment bill

Islamabad: Petition has been filed in Supreme Court (SC) seeking annulment of proposed constitutional amendment bill.The petition was filed by Abid Zubairi , Shafqat Mehmood, Shahab Sirki, Ishtiaq Ahmad Khan, Munir Kakar and others on Monday.Federation, all the four provinces, national assembly, Senate and others have been made respondents.The petitioners took the plea the proposed constitutional amendment be declared unconstitutional. The amendment be declared against the distribution of powers and independence of judiciary. Federal government be restrained from making constitutional amendment. The process for presenting the proposed constitutional amendment bill be stopped. President be restrained from signing the proposed constitutional bill if it is passed in parliament. The proposed constitutional amendment bill be declared null and void.The petition said independence of judiciary, powers and judicial matters be declared sacred.It was further said in the petition that such constituti on making runs contrary to the preface of constitution and several constitutional points.Efforts are being made overnight to abolish the independence of judiciary and efforts are underway in this regard. The court should see all the matters as this constitution making is based on ill intent. Its only objective is harming the independence of judiciary.
