Islamabad: Supreme Court (SC) has declared null and void the notification regarding relaxation of 15 years granted by Sindh government in upper limit of age in connection with appointments in government departments.Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar while upholding Sindh High Court (SHC) decision has said in its 16-page decision Sindh government has granted relaxation in age without any just reason, standard and legal requirements.According to Sindh government age relaxation is linked to upper limit of age for vacancies in all departments. The decision said chief secretary admitted the irregularity in clear terms and presented illogical justification that as the appointments were not made since long at large scale, therefore, the candidates were provided benefit by relaxing upper age limit. It was said in the order no one stopped government from starting recruitment process through Sindh Public Service Commission. Relaxation in upper age limit is beyond logic.According to decision the maximum age l imit for acquiring government job is 30 years. If some one gets government job in the age of 45 years after adding 15 years more on account of relaxation and he is retired at the age of 60. This way he gets all the perks and concessions on completion of 60 years of age after performing only 15 years service. Then it is injustice with the other employees who have performed service for the period ranging between 25 to 30 years. The court said selection of favorites, partiality and selection under external pressure, nepotism create dissatisfaction and unrest in infrastructure of government employees.Chief secretary has admitted in his brief statement that retirement on completion of only 15 years service will shift enormous burden on government.
