Islamabad: Supreme Court (SC) has issued order to provide Imran Khan access to eye specialist besides extending facilities to him for making telephonic contact with his children.
The case related to PTI founder health came up for hearing in SC.
Chief Minister (CM) KP Sohail Afridi and barrister Suleman Safdar reached SC.
A two members bench of SC comprising Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi and justice Shahid Bilal Hassan took up the case for hearing Thursday.
During the hearing of the case CJP Yahya Afridi called Attorney General (AG) Mansoor Usman Awan to rostrum saying the reports of friend of the court and jail superintendent are identical. Read paragraph 21 of the report.
As per context of the report read out in the court PTI founder expressed satisfaction over security arrangements and facilities related to safety while he expressed satisfaction over the arrangements regarding availability of food .
However it was said in the report PTI founder declared medical facilities unsatisfactory. He requested for seeking access to eye specialist.
CJP remarked PTI founder is in state custody at present. All the prisoners including PTI founder should be provided equal medical facilities. We will never say this that more facilities be provided to PTI founder as compared to other prisoners. Equal treatments should be given to all.
AG Mansoor Awan told the court we are ready to provide Imran Khan access to eye specialist.
The CJP remarked government is in a good mood. Facility for making telephonic contact with his children be also provided to Imran Khan.
We are not giving opinion for providing books to Imran Khan for reading because there is problem of his eyes.
He directed that imran Khan be provided access to specialists and facility for telephonic contact with his children as soon as possible.
AG replied it will be done within two to three days.
AG Mansoor Awan assured access to eye specialists and facility of telephonic contacts with his children will be provided to Imran Khan till February 16.
It was made part of court's order.
During the hearing of the case friend of the court Suleman Safdar requested PTI founder be provided access to eye specialists in the presence of any member of his family.
CJP remarked we cannot issue any such order.
The court ordered to provide Imran Khan access to eye specialist. However he rejected the plea for providing him access to eyes specialists in the presence of any member of family.
Suleman Safdar also said this in the court more books be provided to PTI founder.
CJP remarked books be provided if doctors allow.
CJP remarked health problem is most important problem. There is need to interfere in it. We want to know the stance of the government on this matter. Providing health facilities is responsibility of government.
AG said in the court if the prisoner is not satisfied then state will take steps.
The CJP remarked the matter of telephonic calls with children too is very important. We are trusting government. Today government is in good mood. Doctors team will be constituted for medical check up.
The court directed that arrangements be made for telephonic conversation of PTI founder with his children .
The court remarked both the measures be taken before February 16.
During the hearing of the case SC admired Barrister Suleman Safdar for discharging the obligation of friend of the court. We appreciate the role played by the friend of court, We appreciate government too for providing best facilities, CJP remarked.
The SC reserved its judgment on PTI founder petition against
Toshakhana criminal trial.
The CJP remarked trial court had given decision in Toshakhana case. Now appeal against this decision is pending hearing in high court. Does this case not become in-fructuous here
Latif Khosa said upon it a 3-member bench of SC issued order after the decision of trial court. Court can see this matter here.
The counsel said the court if wills can declare the trial illegal by returning the watch.
Please note it that a 3 members bench had issued order before today's 2 members bench .

reserving the judgment in this case.
