SC orders to give service, pension privileges to women pensioners from date of appointment


Islamabad: Supreme Court (SC) while ordering to give service and pension privileges to women teachers from date of their appointment has approved appeal plea against service tribunal decision.



A 3-member bench of SC presided over by Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar heard the case.



Kokab Iqbal counsel for the women teachers presented arguments.



The counsel took the plea the women teachers were appointed on contract basis in 1998 while education department had regularized them in 2009.



Counsel Kokab Iqbal told the court the pension and other service perks and privileges are legal right of women teachers from the date of their appointment. The courts have given decisions in this respect in the past wherein the order was given to give privileges to employees from the date of appointment .
