Islamabad: Supreme Court (SC) has recommended to work out guidelines regarding use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the judicial system of Pakistan.

Justice Mansoor Ali Shah of SC has issued 18-page decision on use of AI in judicial system.

According to the court ruling, tools like ChatGPT and DeepSeek can enhance judicial capacity. It was acknowledged that many judges around the world have used AI to assist in their decision-making processes, suggesting AI can be utilised for legal research and drafting of judgments

that no circumstances should AI replace the independent human judgment of the judiciary.

AI is only helping tool and is not substitute for decision making of a judge. AI should not be alternative for independent human judgment of judiciary. AI is only for facilitating in smart legal system only. Judicial Reforms committee and law and justice commission should prepare guidelines. it should be decided in guidelines that how much AI will be used in judicial system.
