Islamabad: Supreme Court (SC) has declined to receive petition filed by 4 judges of Islamabad High Court (IHC) against 27th constitutional amendment.

SC registrar office refused to receive petition filed by 4 judges.

Sources said registrar has said the constitutional amendment cannot be challenged in SC.

Constitutional matters fall in the mandate of Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) after 27th constitutional amendment.

It is pertinent to mention here 4 judges of IHC had filed petition in SC after deciding to challenge the 27th constitutional amendment.

4 judges including justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani challenged the 27th constitutional amendment.

Draft was prepared and sent to SC to challenge the amendment.

The judges who had challenged the 27th constitutional amendment are Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Justice Babar Sattar, Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz and justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan.

Federation, Federal constitutional court and others have been made respondents in the petition.

It was requested to court to fix the petition for early hearing.
