Karachi: On the appeal plea of federal government Supreme Court (SC) has vacated stay granted by Sindh High Court (SHC) against sacking of PIA employee for holding fake degree 10 years back besides directing PIA to continue departmental proceedings.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi remarked you are running on stay order since 10 years . We are withdrawing our stay order. You should make preparations about your case.

He gave these remarks while presiding over SC bench comprising Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim during hearing of federal government appeal against stay order granted by SHC in the matter of dismissal of employee of PIA for holding fake degree.

Additional Attorney General (AAG) Mohsin Shahwani took the plea Nadim Lodhi was employed as associate engineer on fake degree. PIA served him show cause notice and sacked him from service after his degree was proved fake.

Mohsin Shahwani said Nadim Lodhi during the period of stay order was promoted to officer grade 6. Nadim Lodhi had obtained stay order from SHC in 2015.

The court directed PIA to continue departmental proceedings.

It is pertinent to mention here federal government had resorted to SC against stay order granted by SHC.
