SC wraps up appeal pleas of Punjab govt seeking cancellation of bail of accused in May 9 incident, orders to complete trial in 4 months

Islamabad: Supreme Court (SC) has wrapped up appeal pleas of Punjab government seeking revocation of bail of accused persons in May 9 incident with direction that the trial be completed within four months.

Government of Punjab appeal pleas seeking cancellation of bail of persons accused in May 9 incident came up for hearing in SC Monday.

Counsel Sameer Khosa said court has given decision like this in one case of Khadija Shah. More three cases are registered against Khadija Shah.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) said we will ensure provision of their legal rights to all accused persons including Khadija Shah.

Counsel for Khadija Shah said statements of several witnesses have been recorded. Copy of indictment has not been received so far. The independence of trial courts be also ensured.

Counsel Sameer Khosa said judge of Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) Sargodha had written a letter to high court in this regard.

The CJP remarked the problem of independence of ATC stands resolved. Read that decision. The provision of all documents including indictment to the accused will be ensured.
