Islamabad: The 23rd summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) is set to commence today (Tuesday) in Islamabad.The delegates started arriving in the federal capital, the city was set up to welcome foreign guests.On the other hand, Islamabad has been completely closed for public movement, petrol pumps and markets have also been closed, highways leading to Islamabad have been completely closed.The delegates of the different member countries participating in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit have started arriving in the federal capital.Colorful lights, floral decorations and flags and banners of SCO countries have added to the vibrancy of the city.LED display screens have been installed at the main intersections of Islamabad to welcome foreign visitors. Important places across the city are decorated with colorful lights and Pakistani flags.Chinese Premier, Li Qiang along with a high-level delegation reached the federal capital yesterday. The two-day meeting of SCO Council of the Heads of Government (CHG), the second highest forum of Shanghai Cooperation Organization, will be chaired by Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif as the current Chairman of the Council.Among the leaders of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization who participated in the summit were Chinese Premier State Councilor Li Chiang, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko, Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Tajikistan Prime Minister Qohir Rasulzoda, Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov, First Vice President of Iran Mohammad Reza Arif and Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar are included.In addition, Mongolia is participating in the summit as an observer represented by the Prime Minister of Mongolia Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai, Turkmenistan is represented as a special guest by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Rashid Muridov.Other guests who attended the meet ing included SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming, Director of Executive Committee SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure Ruslan Mirzaif, Chairman of Board of SCO Business Council Atif Ikram Sheikh and Council of SCO Interbank. The chairman of the union, Marat Yelibayev, also involved.The meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member countries will discuss the ongoing cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, environment and socio-cultural relations and evaluate the organization's performance.The leaders of the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will take important organizational decisions to further enhance cooperation and approve the organization's budget. On the other hand, the entrances and exits of Islamabad have been completely sealed.
